About

This app (https://dpapp.cahf.org) has been designed by the California Association of Health Facilities-Disaster Preparedness Program (CAHF-DPP) for California long-term care providers. It has been created so that long term care providers may have emergency information at their fingertips (smart phone, tablet or computer) no matter where they are.

When you think about it, most emergencies or disaster events don’t happen between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday (the typical work week). Actually that period of time (8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday) only makes up 24 percent of the time a facility is providing care and services for residents. Most incidents happen during the hours when staffing levels are reduced and management is not on site. So why would you want to only have access to your important emergency information 24 percent of the time?

The app is populated with general emergency information that is applicable to all types of long-term care facilities and it also allows providers to upload facility specific information (contact lists, floor plans. policies and procedures) which they may need in an emergency. The general emergency information on this app is accessible by event (earthquake, flood, fire, etc.) or by action being taken (prepare, respond or recover). The facility specific information is accessible only to the facility through a secure platform that is password protected (selected by the facility).

Because this app is designated for use by long-term care facilities you will need the sign-up code to create the provider/facility side of the app.  To acquire the sign-up code please e-mail the CAHF-DPP program at disasterapp@cahf.org. We will email you back the sign-up code.  If you have any questions, please contact Tom Medley (disasterapp@cahf.org, or tmedley@cahf.org,)

The California Association of Health Facilities (CAHF) receives funding through the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) under the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) to support the integration of long-term care into disaster planning and response efforts throughout the state of California. As a critical component of the healthcare delivery system, it has become increasingly clear that long-term care has an important role to play in disaster preparedness.  CAHF’s Disaster Preparedness Program (DPP) provides services to all long-term care in California, including and beyond its own membership.
